Changing property "Editor" fails for Open with Webservice option


I tried to connect to the web url using Open with Webservice option and Was tring to update list items proeprty Editor, and was checking in (mojor, minor and override). Everytime it failed.
Although when run as open Local, it has successfuly set the Editor property.

This is actually a limitation of the standard Lists web service - it doesn't update "read-only" fields (fields with the "ReadOnly attribute set to TRUE") like the Editor, Author, Created, Modified, etc. You don't have this problem when using the object model with the SPWeb.ProcessBatchData method though. This is why you see the different behavior when you use the tool in the web services mode and locally.
